From Action Painting to Algorithms: The Story of Bo Pennings
Bo Pennings (b. 1987, Nijmegen) is a Dutch visual artist and technologist who has spent his career at the intersection of digital precision and raw human expression. Living and working in the Netherlands, Bo’s journey is defined by a lifelong fascination with how we create, capture, and curate beauty.

The Evolution of an Artist
Bo’s roots lie in both the physical and digital worlds. After studying Communication and Multimedia Design (Computer Science) at the HAN, he founded his web design agency, Wux, in 2009. While his professional life was built on user-friendly code and digital architecture, his creative soul was always drawn to the canvas.
In 2012, inspired by the raw, energetic "action painting" style of Dutch legend Herman Brood, Bo began creating his own physical artworks. As an abstract expressionist, he moved away from the traditional brush, choosing instead to experiment with graffiti spray paint, messy stucco, and drip techniques. For Bo, art was never about perfection—it was about movement, texture, and the "gestural abstraction" of the moment.
